Antigua

Thank you again for your prayers.  Yesterday was a very hard day for many people and I can’t imagine how we would have made it through without your prayer cover. 

It rained all day yesterday…only stopping long enough for us to set up in the village.  The young girls had so much fun painting nails. And the boys, of course, showed off their athletic ability with the basketballs and baseballs.  We have so many wonderful pictures. 

The line for the clinic reached around to the back of the building and we were able to help so many people.  Dan was extra tired after having been up all night but he was able to make it through.

When Hermano Jesus was giving the altar call no one came up.  He kept saying “Come, do not resist.”  Yet no one came.  Finally, there was movement.  Four children, all under the age of 6 came forward, raised their hands and said they wanted Jesus in their hearts!! It was the most amazing sight we have ever seen!!!  After they said the prayer of salvation, about 15 other children came forward and accepted Christ.  Only one adult out of that entire village.  It gives new meaning to the verse, “Let the little children come to me.” 

This day we go to Antigue for a much needed break.  Tomorrow we will be leaving at 3am so this will be the last that you hear from us until you get the call from the phone tree. Thank you for lifting us up in prayer!  See you in a little while!

Village Ministry Day 2

Again, thank you so much for your prayers…they are what really keep us going as we minister to the people of Guatemala. 

Secondly, this morning Dan and Heidi had to take their two year old daughter to the hospital.  She has been struggling with the flu and did not get any liquids yesterday.  On top of that, it is raining this morning which makes the roads less navigable. Please pray for safety for them as they travel to the hospital as well as complete healing for Haven. 

Last night was amazing and powerful.  After the medical clinic we sang to the villagers, had a couple people (Aaron, Mitch and Kara) give their testimonies. Then we showed the Jesus Film and Hermano Jesus gave his sermon.  About 25-30 people gave their lives to the Lord last night and it was a beautiful thing to see.  There was not a single dry eye among our group. 

Leaving the village was….interesting.  It had been raining and the roads were very slippery, making it very difficult to go up the large hill that led into the village. But, three hours later, with the use of chains and muscle, we were able to make it out! Praise Jesus!  We did have to leave one of the vans in the village as it didn’t have the power to make it up the hill.  Fitting 40 people in two vehicles was tough…but we made it through!

Pray for us this day as we are all very tired and don’t have a lot of energy.  But pray mostly for Dan and Heidi and their daughter, Haven.

At the Mission Base!

Hello Everyone!

First of all, thank you so much for all of your prayers!  We could not have done it without you!  Yesterday was our final day in La Bendicion and it was so powerful.  In almost every house that we built we had people come to Christ.  Everyone has felt the power of a changed life experiencing this.  I’m sure that your children will tell you all about it.

We arrived at the mission base last night after a couple interesting van rides.  We had two vans go into the ditch, one that we picked up physically to get it out. Fun for everyone! 

Today we will be going into the mountain villages. Please pray for the people that we will be ministering to.  Pray for open hearts and changed lives, not only for the villagers, but also for the kids with us.  Everyone will be coming home with an experience that will never leave them.
